Nearly 28 percent of adults in the United States have a college degree. However, it is important to note that earning a college degree is no guarantee that one will be able to find work. In fact, a recent study has shown that nearly nine percent of the United States population is unemployed. The good news is that there are states that have an employment rate that is significantly lower than the national average.
North Dakota is the state that has the lowest unemployment rate. Only 3.6 percent of the residents in this state are unemployed. Agriculture, food and tourism are some of the leading industries in this country. Only 25.7 percent of the people in this state have a bachelor’s degree, which is slightly lower than the national average.
South Dakota has the second lowest unemployment rate in the country. Only 4.7 percent of the population is unemployed. Agriculture and government enterprise are the leading industries. Only 25 percent of the population has a college degree.
