India Govt Banned 59 Chinese Apps.
The government of India has banned at least 59 Chinese apps, in a major decision. Including TikTok, Helo, Shareit, Likee, WeChat, Shein, UC Browser etc. among the list of banned Chinese apps.
The move is targeted at “safeguarding” the pursuits of crores of Indian cellular and internet users. This decision is a targeted move to guarantee the security and sovereignty of Indian people, the Ministry of Information Technology stated in a notification today.
“The Ministry of IT, invoking it’s authority under section 69A of the Information Technology Act read together with the applicable terms of the IT (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 and in light of the emerging nature of risks has made a decision to ban 59 apps since in view of the data available they’re engaged in actions that’s prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.”
