Whether the main reason is time, money, or something else, simple meals are often something we all like to have in our personal “locker” in order to make both shopping and cooking easy and stress free.
While students are one example of a demographic who generally prefer simple food choices, the reality is that in a world where time and money tends to be short, anyone can benefit from these five recipe ideas.
Here are the top five simple meals for any home:
1. Spaghetti Bolognese
If there was ever a meal that is a family favourite, perfect for students, and something easy for men to learn how to do, then it is this. Spaghetti Bolognese has been a favourite for many, many years, such is the variety of different ingredients you can put into it. This is often a great dish for using up a lot of things before they date expire, and never fails to be tasty.
2. Stir Fry
When it comes to the simple food this is perhaps the best one. Where else can you throw anything together and have it perfect and ready to eat in a matter of minutes? Microwave meals don’t count, so get that idea out of your head already!
Whether it is all vegetables, contains meat, or has a simple stir in sauce from the supermarket, stir fry is often a healthy and easy to put together meal for everyone.
In the winter, when the temperature has dropped to savage levels and you want to do nothing but sit in front of a warm fireplace in something big and made from wool, what is the solution? Chop up every vegetable you can find, and cook slowly in a large pan.
If you feel a little energetic later then you can always make some dumplings to add to it should they stir your taste buds.
4. Steak and Veggies
If ever there was a “man meal” then it is this one. Although steak can cost more than most things, it is very easy to cook when putting it in the frying pan or under the grill for as long or as little as you desire. Boil a pan of water and throw in frozen vegetables for a tasty nutritious meal cooked in minutes.
If you are a salad fan then there is perhaps no easier meal to make. Simply chop up ingredients that you have in your fridge and add croutons, cooked meat, dressing, and anything else to bring your salad to life, and enjoy!
